What is the Central Valley Water Education Center?
The Central Valley Water Education Center (CVWEC) is an organization
dedicated to educating the public about water and fostering cooperation among all water
users in the central San Joaquin Valley. CVWEC began in December 1997 with major support
from the United States Bureau of Reclamation, Center for Irrigation Technology and
California State University Fresno.
A "visioning" meeting brought together agricultural, environmental and urban
water users to establish the direction and focus of the center. At this meeting, two key
elements emerged: cooperation and education.
What are the Goals of CVWEC?
Build a constructive, working relationship between agricultural, environmental and urban
water interest groups.
Provide an ongoing public forum for the discussion and exchange of ideas about water
issues facing the central San Joaquin Valley.
Utilize the Internet to present factual information to the public about water issues
facing agricultural, environmental and urban water users (www.cvwater.org).
The CVWEC Mission Statement
The Central Valley Water Education Center (CVWEC) recognizes that
water is critical to the future lifestyle and health of the San Joaquin Valley. CVWEC
seeks to understand the important and diverse water needs among agricultural,
environmental and urban water users. The CVWEC takes an active role in educating the
public on water issues and in improving working relationships among all water users to
assure that sufficient water will be available for the central valley.
Who is involved in CVWEC?
Where do we begin?
It is important for agricultural, environmental and urban concerns to
work together to establish an educational forum to learn and understand the many uses of
water in our community. We welcome all individuals and organizations to become involved
with the Central Valley Water Education Center.
